XTR2 Gets Smarter, Faster, and Even Easier for Engineers
Detector Testers have announced a significant product update to the XTR2—and it’s one that engineers across the fire safety industry will welcome. The latest enhancements focus on simplifying maintenance, improving reliability, and strengthening connectivity for users. Below is a clear breakdown of what’s new and why it matters to IST customers.
Simpler TES3 Cartridge Changes
Effective September 2026, XTR2 users will no longer need to register TES3 smoke cartridges after replacement. This removes an extra step from routine maintenance, making cartridge changes quicker and reducing downtime. The update will be delivered automatically via OTA (over‑the‑air) updates, with notifications sent through the app and email once available.
Enhanced Smoke Purge Reliability
The smoke purge function has been upgraded with a pump‑conditioning process—previously used only during priming—to improve reliability after periods of inactivity. The impeller now rotates both clockwise and anti‑clockwise to free any tubing that may have become pinched or adhered over time. This adds around 10 seconds to the purge cycle but results in more consistent smoke generation and overall system performance.
What This Means for IST Customers
These updates make XTR2 even more efficient for day‑to‑day testing, reducing admin time, improving reliability, and strengthening digital reporting workflows. IST Supplies will continue to highlight these improvements across our product pages and support content, ensuring customers can make the most of the latest XTR2 capabilities.
