The OCTO+ Fire Alarm Control Panel is built on the proven foundation of the globally recognised JUNO NET platform and now introduces a fully peer-to-peer, multi-master networking architecture.
Its new Chameleon Network technology provides exceptional resilience for large and distributed installations. Each NODE+ on the network stores complete system information in its internal configuration memory, ensuring that even in the unlikely event of communication loss, there is no reduction in performance for any individual NODE+.
Network configurations are typically arranged in a closed loop or designed with multiple communication paths for redundancy, using RS422 or fibre-optic connections. Ethernet interfaces are also supported, allowing the system to operate across existing IT infrastructure.
A Chameleon Network can include up to 32 NODE+ units. Each OCTO+ panel supports 1 to 4 addressable loops, enabling a system capacity of up to 128 loops.
The system supports remote access via the ODYSSEY Graphics Interface and integrates seamlessly with third-party Building Management Systems through Modbus communication.
The backlit graphical LCD display supports custom characters, graphics, and multiple languages, enabling versatile layouts and user-friendly visualisation.
The panel is housed in an aluminium back box with a reversible plastic lid and contains a PSU, a front-end display for equipment status, a NODE+ unit with loop card, and optional networking interfaces.
For every four loops, there is space to install up to 12 Ah, 24V DC sealed lead-acid backup batteries, providing up to 24 hours of standby for the NODE+ and connected ZEOS devices, which are designed for extremely low power consumption.
Because all panels on the network share full system data, locations that do not require a local user interface can use a simplified NODE+ unit rather than a full OCTO+ panel. The NODE+ shares the same enclosure and loop capacity but is supplied without the front-end display. Each NODE+ can also communicate with a remote repeater using any supported networking interface.
“Cause and Effect” programming and customer-specific configuration can be uploaded to any OCTO+ panel via USB using the CHAMELEON CONNECTOR software. Once updated, the panel can automatically distribute the configuration across the entire Chameleon Network.
