The OCTO+ Fire Alarm Control Panel is developed from the highly regarded JUNO NET platform and introduces a fully peer-to-peer, multi-master networking architecture.
Its innovative Chameleon Network technology delivers exceptional resilience across large and distributed systems. Each NODE+ stores complete system data in its internal configuration memory, ensuring that—even if communication is lost—individual NODE+ units continue to operate without any performance degradation.
Network topologies are typically arranged in a closed loop or designed with multiple physical communication paths for added redundancy, using RS422 or fibre-optic media. Ethernet interfaces may also be used, allowing integration with existing network infrastructure.
A Chameleon Network supports up to 32 NODE+ units, and each OCTO+ panel can provide between 1 and 4 addressable loops, enabling a system capacity of up to 128 loops.
The system supports remote access through the ODYSSEY Graphics Interface and integrates with third-party Building Management Systems via Modbus output.
The backlit graphical LCD display supports custom characters, symbols, and multilingual layouts, providing highly flexible and user-configurable visualisation.
The panel is housed in an aluminium back box with a reversible plastic lid and includes a power supply unit, a front-end display for monitoring and control, a NODE+ unit with loop card, and optional networking interfaces.
For every four loops, the enclosure accommodates up to 12 Ah, 24 VDC sealed lead-acid backup batteries, providing up to 24 hours of standby power for the NODE+ and connected low-consumption ZEOS devices.
Because all panels on the network share complete system information, locations that do not require a local user interface can be equipped with a NODE+ unit instead of a full OCTO+ panel. The NODE+ features the same four-loop capacity and enclosure but omits the front-end display, making it ideal for system expansion while limiting interface points to essential areas.
Each NODE+ also supports communication with remote repeater units through any available networking interface.
“Cause and Effect” programming and customised configurations can be uploaded to any OCTO+ panel using the CHAMELEON CONNECTOR software via USB. The updated panel can then distribute the configuration automatically to all other panels on the Chameleon Network.
