The Fire Beam-Xtra automatically aligns itself to the centre of the reflector during commissioning and continuously maintains alignment even when building movement occurs. This intelligent motorised system significantly reduces false alarms, saving time, resources, reputations, and ultimately money. What sets the Fire Beam apart are two defining features: a continually self-aligning motorised beam head and a low-level controller that provides access to all key functions.
The new Fire Beam-Xtra (FIREBEAM-XTRA) is the permanent replacement for both the original Fire Beam and the outgoing Plus model. With enhanced optics, it now offers coverage of up to 160 metres. For installations exceeding 100 metres, a single beam is sufficient—eliminating the need for dual beams and delivering considerable savings in time and cost.
Key Features
New Revised Optics
This latest optical design combines years of refinement with advanced components to deliver a VdS-approved beam detector fully compliant with EN 54-12:2015. The Fire Beam-Xtra outperforms other beam detectors currently available on the market.
Five Times Faster
Newly developed linear stepper motors enable exceptionally fast commissioning and maintenance. Under test conditions at 40 metres, auto-alignment was completed in just 3 minutes 02 seconds straight out of the box. Routine re-alignment was achieved in only 1 minute 07 seconds. This represents class-leading performance, combining speed with a robust, purpose-built design.
Multi-Language Support
The Fire Beam-Xtra supports seven languages: English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, and Czech. This is a valuable feature for our growing international customer base, with products now supplied to 62 countries worldwide.
Auto-Align On / Off
In environments subject to occasional contamination—such as theatres using artificial smoke—auto-alignment can be disabled during normal operation. This prevents misalignment caused by temporary obscuration of the reflector. Auto-alignment remains active during commissioning. This option is best suited to installations on rigid structures that are not affected by building movement. For sites that do experience movement, such as metal warehouses, an alternative delay function is available (see below).
Auto-Align Time Delay
Ideal for environments with short-term obscuration, this feature prevents alignment checks if the received signal drops for a preset period. Factory set at four hours, the delay can be adjusted between 0 and 12 hours to allow conditions to clear.
Beam Phasing
Beams installed facing each other can experience interference if sampling rates coincide, leading to unreliable operation. Beam phasing resolves this by offering up to seven selectable sampling rates, allowing reliable installation of opposing beams with reflectors positioned between them.
Hysteresis
Adjustable hysteresis controls the delay between fire and normal states. Factory set at 15%, if the beam enters a fire condition at 65% signal strength (35% threshold), it must recover to 80% before returning to normal. This prevents minor signal fluctuations from causing repeated alarm conditions. Hysteresis can be adjusted from 1% to 40% via the controller menu.
Up to 160 Metre Range
Enhanced optics provide coverage of up to 160 metres. For distances over 100 metres, only one beam is required—reducing installation complexity and cost.
