The Orbis Heat Detector range has been designed for applications where smoke detectors are not suitable, providing reliable fire detection across a variety of environmental conditions. With six detector classes available, the range offers the flexibility to meet the requirements of different operating environments, particularly those where dust, steam, fumes, or smoke are present under normal conditions.
Manufactured in accordance with EN 54-5, Orbis Heat Detectors are classified by the maximum ambient temperature in which they can operate without causing false alarms. The range includes Class A1R, A2S, BR, BS, CR, and CS detectors, with options for both rate-of-rise and fixed temperature detection to suit specific applications.
Each detector features an open-web casing that allows air to circulate freely across a precision thermistor. The thermistor measures the surrounding air temperature every two seconds, while an onboard microprocessor continuously analyses the readings against programmed alarm thresholds. Rate-of-rise models also monitor how quickly the temperature is increasing, enabling them to detect rapidly developing fires sooner than fixed temperature detectors where appropriate.
The Orbis Heat Detector range combines dependable performance with simple installation and maintenance. A red flashing LED confirms the detector is operating correctly during start-up, while the SensAlert yellow LED provides clear indication of a fault condition. Apollo's FasTest technology also enables installers and maintenance engineers to verify detector operation in as little as four seconds, reducing testing time and disruption.
