The Talentum Flameproof Ultra-Violet / Dual Infra-Red (UV/IR²) Flame Detector is designed to protect hazardous areas where open flames may occur. It can detect almost all types of flames, from hydrocarbon fires with 4.3 µm emissions to invisible fires such as hydrogen.
The detector is sensitive to flickering, low-frequency (1–15 Hz) infra-red radiation produced during combustion. It features one UV sensor and two IR sensors, each responding to different wavelengths across the UV and IR spectra. Signals from these sensors are processed to identify flame characteristics, and an alarm is triggered only when both UV and IR signatures are detected simultaneously. Advanced signal processing eliminates false alarms caused by sunlight, arc welding, or lightning.
Selectable outputs include relay contacts or 4–20 mA signals, providing flexibility for integration with fire and process control systems.
